How does the Extra Special Super Kid Program enhance
and show community involvement?
Community, at large, is encouraged to share with
school, deeds children have performed in their neighborhoods,
in their churches, scouting programs, etc.
Featured newspaper articles have promoted the "Super
Kid" Program in a way that civic organizations
and public officials have offered their assistance.
K-Mart Department Store established a recognition
incentive for Sampson Super Kids. Many letters have
been received from various individuals from all avenues
of life complimenting and supporting the program.
The program has generated an awareness of good citizenship
which has resuited in students performing many acts
of kindness in the community. A student pulled a small
child out of the middle of a busy street. Another
student found a small child wandering around the neighborhood,
apparently lost. The student brought the child to
school and consequently, the child was reunited with
its parents.
The Extra Special Super Kid Program encourages students,
teachers, parents and community to accent the positive.
To look for good in all people and in all things.
To say NO!, to negative ideas and attitudes.
The awareness of taking care of ones own as well
as others belongings has benefited students and school.
Children are becoming more respectful of their environment.
Fewer instances of stealing and fighting have been
recorded since inception of the "Extra Special
